What to Expect from Showcase 2016

Our annual Model and Talent Showcase is something that is unique to Julie Nation Academy and has led to many success stories. This year, it will be held on Saturday, November 19th. For our Showcase, top agents come from all over the country to scout for new models, actors, singers, and performers. We have high success rates with many of Showcase participants signing with agents in attendance and going on to thrive in the entertainment industry.

Showcase participants all do a Presentation Walk, which will be different than it has been in the past (see below), and have Optional Performance Divisions that they can sign choose to sign up for to demonstrate their skills in the following areas: Solo Runway, Modeling Troupe, Portfolio, Commercials, Monologues, Singing, Dancing, Voiceover.

This year, our Showcase is going to be a bit different than what some of you may have experienced in the past couple years. We are still going to have top agents in attendance looking for new talent, but there will be some changes in show format.

What's Different?

  • Showcase 2016 will be held in Waterfall Towers. Suite number will be announced as Showcase approaches.

  • We are returning to an "interview style" Showcase, which is a more intimate audition. There is no audience--just you, the panel of agents, and Julie Nation staff. Immediate family members will be allowed to quietly enter the room and watch from the back when their participant performs, as to not disturb the auditioning process.

  • You will start off with a Presentation Walk (as usual), but we will not have a projector screen to project your photographs onto. Instead, you will walk the runway holding your open portfolio showing two photos while a Julie Nation staff member reads the information you provide. You will then slate your name, age if under 18, and state what you are interested in pursuing (modeling, acting, singing, etc.).

  • Immediately following your Presentation Walk, you will perform any Optional Performance Divisions you have registered for, back to back. The MC will hold your Portfolio book during your Division performances and return it to you before you exit the room.

  • After performing for the agents, you may leave and come back at 2:00pm for call-backs from the agents. No lunch is provided, though Waterfall Towers does have a few picnic tables on site if you want to bring a lunch and wait. However, we encourage you to take advantage of the nearby restaurants and parks to recharge after your audition.

  • In the past, we have held our annual dinner on the same night. This year we will not have a dinner the night of Showcase. Instead, our Graduation & Awards Gala Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2017. Save the date!

  • The registration fee has been significantly reduced! In the past years, it has been $685 for JN students/graduates and $885 for the public participants. The current registration fee is $450 for Julie Nation students/graduates and $550 for public participants.

  • EXCITING NEWS: It’s a great year to sing at Showcase because panel members will be specifically scouting for Broadway performers, as well for as for a music producer!

Despite these changes, the goal of Showcase remains the same: agents will still come to find new talent to start their careers in the entertainment industry! We are so excited and can’t wait for another successful Showcase! For more information or to sign up, contact us here.
